A Windsor man is facing charges after allegedly impersonating a police officer.

OPP report that that on Friday, April 30th, 2021, Leamington Detachment officers were approached by a concerned motorist who reported a male, during a traffic stop, identified himself as a police officer.

While on patrol on Talbot Street West, OPP officers located a black Chrysler 300 and suspect male matching the descriptions provided by the victim.

Allan Carpenter, 56 years of age from Windsor, was arrested and charged with personating peace officer pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused has since been released from custody, with a court date scheduled for June 29th, 2021.

Police would like to remind motorists who suspect they have been pulled over or confronted by a police impersonator should immediately call 911. Do not get out of your vehicle. If possible, try to write down a description of the person, their vehicle and their license plate as soon as it is safe to do so.
