Windsor Police continue to investigate after a firearm was retrieved from a stolen vehicle following a crash Saturday afternoon.

Polices say on Saturday, September 12th, 2020, at approximately 4:45pm, officers were called to the 1300 block of Windermere Road for a report of a stolen blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

On Sunday, September 13th, 2020, around 4pm, an officer spotted the stolen vehicle as it was being driven by a lone occupant in the area of Walker Road at Seminole Street.

The stolen vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed, and in the interest of public safety, officers did not pursue. Moments later the stolen truck was involved in a collision in the area of Henry Ford Centre Drive and Seminole Street.

The collision caused extensive damage to the involved vehicles and a privacy fence and private property in the area.

Witnesses reported that the driver of the stolen truck had fled the scene on foot, last seen southbound on Alexis Road. It is believed the suspect driver may have received facial injuries as a result of the collision.

Officers contained the area, closed the involved roadways and launched an investigation.

Officers also located a firearm within the stolen vehicle.

The suspect was not located in the area, and the roadways were later opened.

The suspect is described as a male white, approximately 25 years of age, clean-shaven with short hair, wearing a black
t-shirt and long black shorts below the knee.
