An operator of a jet ski was charged after a crash in Lake St. Clair.

OPP say that around 7:47pm on August 15th, 2020, they received a call for a jet ski that collided with a dock in the lake.

Officers attended the scene and located the operator of the jet ski. Police say the driver was displaying signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.

Police have charged the driver, 55-year-old Elizabeth Balazsy of Windsor, with adult operation while impaired – alcohol and adult failure or refusal to comply with demand.

“It’s disappointing when we hear of individuals operating personal watercraft or vessels while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. People enjoy time with family and friends on our waterways, perhaps in even greater numbers than in years before,” said Essex County OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Glenn Miller.

“Unfortunately, like on our roadways, people continue to disrespect the laws putting others and certainly themselves at great risk. The Essex County OPP Marine Unit continues to respond to areas of concern, and I encourage those who enjoy boating, to report suspicious activity or recklessness on our waters by calling 911 immediately. For those of you who assume you won’t get caught, prepare yourself for a lifestyle change, one with a criminal record for that maybe your outcome.”
