Chatham-Kent Police Officer Charged Following Fraud Investigation

A Chatham-Kent Police officer has been arrested and charged following a fraud investigation.

Police say that on Friday, December 27th, 2019 a citizen reported to police that he had personal blank cheques stolen.

The investigation revealed that a Chatham-Kent Police officer may be involved, as a result, the Chatham-Kent Police Service made a request to the Sarnia Police Service to investigate the incident.

As a result of their investigation, Constable Cristelle Vanden Enden was charged with fraud under $5000, cause use of a forged document, and possession of property obtained by crime. She was released on an undertaking and scheduled to appear in court September 9th, 2020.

Constable Vanden Enden is currently on leave.
