Two adults are in custody after colliding with an occupied OPP cruiser in a stolen vehicle in Lakeshore Thursday.

Police say that around 10am, an OPP officer observed a stolen grey pickup truck occupied by a driver and passenger near Comber in Lakeshore. Upon trying to stop the vehicle, the driver fled at a high rate of speed.

A short pursuit was initiated but was discontinued in the interest of public safety.

The vehicle was later observed approaching the intersection of County Roads 27 (Belle River Road) and County Road 8. Police set up a roadblock to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle approached the roadblock and collided with one of the occupied police cruisers in an attempt to evade arrest.

The officer in the cruiser was not injured during the collision, and two suspects exited the vehicle and fled into a field on foot.

Several OPP officers, including the K-9 unit, converged on the scene and took an adult man and an adult woman into custody.
