Police have arrested the alleged shooter involved in Wednesday’s incident in Walkerville.

Police say they learned that the victim and the suspect attended the Tim Horton’s parking lot at Walker and Wyandotte in separate vehicles. There was an altercation and the suspect allegedly shot the victim and was last seen running south on Monmouth Street. The victim got into a vehicle and was brought to the hospital by another a male who was also at the scene at the time of the shooting. The victim received emergency surgery for a gunshot wound to the abdomen and is in stable condition.

Police believe that both parties are known to each other and this is not a random act.

On Thursday around 3:00pm, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of Monmouth for evidence of the shooting. Upon searching the residence officers located and seized a handgun.

Through investigation, officers were led to a residence in the 1000 block of Henry Ford Blvd. With the assistance of the Windsor Police Service Emergency Service Unit the 20 year old suspect was arrested without incident.

Kyle Williston, a 20 year old male from Windsor is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded weapon, pointing a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a firearm or ammunition while prohibited x 4, possession of a firearm without a licence and contravening the firearms act in relation to storage.
