Windsor Police have made an arrest in the arson investigation of an east Windsor pizzeria.

The fire broke out at the Pizza Brothers location on the corner of Wyandotte Street East and Marion Avenue around 4:30am Monday.

Police say that for several days investigators worked with Windsor Fire & Rescue Services and the Office of the Fire Marshal.

They say that two suspects attended the business on the morning of October 12th, 2015. A 21-year-old male entered the business and his actions caused an explosion inside resulting in him being critically injured.

The second suspect, a 39-year-old male, removed the injured male from the scene and brought him to an undisclosed location in Windsor, and then in Essex Ontario.

Eventually an ambulance was called for the male and he was transported to Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus. He was then air lifted to a Hospital in Hamilton that has a burn unit. He remains in critical condition and is in a medically induced coma, with severe burns to over 60% of his body.

On Thursday October 15th, 2015 around 8:4am, police placed the 39 year old suspect under arrest without incident, in the area of Howard Avenue and Cabana Road. He faces charges of arson, damage to property, criminal negligence and accessory after the fact.

The suspect was released on a promise to appear and has a court date early in December 2015

A charge of arson causing property damage will be processed against the injured male when his medical condition improves.

Damage has been estimated at $600,000.
