Man Arrested After Attempting To Sell Stolen Property To A Police Officer

Windsor Police have arrested and charged a Windsor man believed to be selling stolen property on Facebook and Kijiji.
Police say that they made contact with the suspect advising him that they were interested in purchasing tools that he had for sale. Officers made arrangements to meet at a location and while waiting the suspect changed the location to a self storage business. One of the officers met with the suspect and was escorted to an open storage locker.
After being satisfied with the suspect identity the remaining other officers followed and drove up to the suspect who was standing next to a pick-up truck. The suspect tried to flee on foot but was caught after a brief foot pursuit without incident and placed under arrest. While on scene officers learned that the pick-up truck and plates belonging to another vehicle were also stolen.
Police say they several power tools in front of an open storage locker. and the locker was full of various items that were believed to have been stolen.
Officers sealed the door and applied for a search warrant. A search warrant was granted and officers subsequently seized the items believed to have been stolen. They are currently checking our records to locate the owners of the property.
Jacob Brode, a 30-year-old male from Windsor is charged with possession of stolen property over and possession of stolen property and theft under and mischief.
Police say that they anticipate laying further charges upon the completion of the investigation.
