Police have one man in custody and are searching for another after a drive-by shooting over the weekend.
Police were called to 325 Wellington on Saturday at 3:15am after learning that shots had been fired.
Officers removed a family from the lower unit and two males from the upper unit and discovered several “spent” ammunition casings in front of the duplex.
Police say they observed that several rounds were fired into the duplex. No one was injured during the shooting.
Investigators determined that two males in the upper unit were with friends and were involved in a physical altercation outside a downtown night club earlier in the evening with a second group of males. Several of the males in both groups are known to each other. At one point during the altercation, a male suspect in the second group lifted his shirt, revealing that he had a handgun tucked into his waistband. Another member of the second group of males was shouting threats that they were going to kill the other males. Eventually the members of the second group got into a vehicle, described as a Pontiac G6 and fled the area.
The crowd dispersed and two of the males from the first group attended the upper residence on Wellington. Approximately five minutes after entering the residence, the two males describe hearing multiple gun shots followed by the sound of a car squealing its tires.
Police were able to identify the male brandishing the handgun during the downtown altercation. He was placed under arrest on Saturday August 17th.
Jade Freeswick, 18-years-old, is charged with Possession of a Restricted Firearm and Uttering Death Threats.
The male who was shouting threats has also been identified. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Keith St. Pierre, 21 years of age for Uttering Death Threats and Possession of a Restricted Firearm.
