Man Charged With Pigeon Abuse

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society has charged a Comber man with animal abuse after a pigeon was found with broken wings and legs.
Melanie Coulter, Executive Director says that on January 7th investigators responded to 1550 Kildare in response to a complaint that a live pigeon was being used to attempt to capture an owl. The pigeon was found without food or water, and was removed.
A subsequent examination by Humane Society veterinary staff found two broken wings as well as two broken legs. The pigeon was euthanized due to the severity of his injuries.
One person has been charged under the Ontario SPCA Act with causing distress to an animal. His scheduled court appearance is April 22 at 9am
