Windsor Man Arrested After Threatening People With Semi-Automatic Gun

Windsor Police have a man in custody facing numerous charges after a loaded hand gun was seized in the city’s west end just after 10pm last night.
Police say that they were called to an apartment building in the 3600 block of Sandwich Street for a report of a man knocking on an apartment door holding a hand gun.
When police arrived, the suspect had already left the building, but the apartment occupants told police that earlier in the evening, they had received some threats from a man as a result of a domestic argument.
Police were able to identify the man believed to be in possession of the hand gun and attended his address located in the 3500 block of King Street, where the suspect was arrested without incident.
During a subsequent search of the suspect’s vehicle, officers found a loaded Kel Tec 9mm semi-automatic pistol laying on the floor next to the driver’s seat.
Officers seized the firearm.
Gary Vanasse aged 41 years of Windsor is facing six firearms related charges including Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace, Possession of a Loaded Regulated Firearm and Possession of a Prohibited Firearm without Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate.
