The Provincial Anti Violence Initiative Strategy (PAVIS) division of local policing operations made a large pot bust on Wednesday.
Police executed a search warrant at 6645 St. Michaels Drive in LaSalle. Upon entering the residence, officers located a sophisticated cannabis marihuana grow-op consisting of over 1300 marihuana plants. Officers also observed that a number of cement blocks had been removed in the basement wall allowing access to the hydro lines which had been bypassed.
Officers began to dismantle the grow-op and were in the process of doing so at 5:55pm when a vehicle containing a male driver pulled into the driveway of the home. The driver was identified as the owner of the residence and he was arrested immediately.
Officers seized a large amount of equipment consistent with a cannabis grow operation including electrical transformers and high pressure sodium lights.
Police have charged Chun Zen Su (27) of Windsor with Production of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Diverting or Consuming Electricity and Theft Over $5000.
The total value of the bust is estimated to be over $1.3 million.
Windsor Police are reminding the public to be aware of any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods and to report such activity to the police immediately.
