Police Arrest Walkerville Break and Enter Suspect

A Windsor Police officer walks to his patrol car in the 800 Block of Monmouth

Around midnight, a female resident of a home in the 800 block of Monmouth was upstairs putting her 5 year old daughter to bed when she heard noises coming from the main floor of the house.  She immediately ran downstairs calling out to anyone who was in the house to “get out”.  The resident went to the front door and observed the suspect run from between her house and her neighbour’s home.  The woman checked her windows and discovered that the first floor living room window screen had been cut and that her purse was laying on the ground outside the window.  The woman reported that nothing was missing from the purse.

Police were call and told that the that the suspect was last seen running from the house north on Monmouth Road and then west on Cataraqui Street.

Officers responding to the area located a man matching the description of the suspect riding a bicycle in the alley between Gladstone Ave and Lincoln Road  just south of Erie Street.  The suspect was arrested after a brief struggle. A subsequent search of the suspect revealed that he was carrying a pair of cloth gloves and a box cutter.

Charged is 35 year old Jason Schultz of Windsor.  He is charged with Break and Enter, Possession of Break and Enter Tools and Resisting Arrest.

Windsor Police are investigating as to whether Schu;tz is responsible for the series of Break and Enters that have been occurring in the Walkerville area over the past month.
