Two Vehicle Fires Friday/Cyclist Hit and Run

Engine 5 and Engine 8 at the scene of a vehicle fire on Riberdy Road.

The fire captain speaks with the homeowners.

The first vehicle fire broke out around 1pm near the intersection of Gladstone and Wyandotte. The vehicle became fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived on scene. Nobody was hurt.

The second vehicle fire occurred around 4:15pm when a car caught on fire inside a detached garage outside a home in the 3900 block of Riberdy Road. Engine 8 was able to arrive on scene in a few seconds  since the Station 8 is  located right down the road.

The crew of Engine 8 charged a line from a fire hydrant and the blaze was quickly extinguished. Nobody was hurt. The garage was slightly damaged.

The cause of both vehicle fires remains unknown at this time.


Another Cyclist Hit and Run in Windsor

A  cyclist courier was struck by a vehicle on Ouellette directly in front of The Beach around 1:30pm Friday afternoon. The cyclist suffered only minor injuries.

The vehicle that drove off after striking the cyclist is described as a black 2006 Saturn. Fortunately, police were able to find the address of the registered owner of the wanted vehicle.

The last known cyclist hit and run occurred on Friday, June 4th, at the intersection of Tecumseh Road East and Factoria Road when a male cyclist was struck by a red pickup truck which drove away upon impact.
