Windsor Police have arrested a man who told them he broke into several vehicles.

Around 2:45am Saturday, officers on patrol in the 800 block of Lauzon Road saw a man carrying a box and another box with electrical cables protruding from it.

Officers drove past the man and then proceeded to turn their police cruiser around to speak with him. As soon as the officers began to turn around, the man dropped both boxes and began to run.

Officers chased the man on foot but lost him.

A few minutes later, police spotted the man, covered in snow, inside of the Tim Horton’s at Lauzon and Wyandotte. Officers located his jacket outside the Tim Horton’s by the recycling bins and found a large quantity of coins, cell phones, and several packages of cigarettes in the coat. The suspect was placed under arrest for possession of stolen property.

Police say the suspect told them that he had broken into several vehicles in the area and that the boxes, containing flat screen televisions, were taken out of a van in the area of St. Paul and Lauzon.

Police say a forensic examination of the suspect’s footwear found corresponding characteristics to foot impressions left in the snow around the van where the televisions were taken.

Investigators determined that the same suspect was a person of interest in a pending investigation where four GPS units were pawned at a pawn shop last week. One of the GPS units was confirmed to be stolen property, and the person who pawned the GPS units had identified himself to the pawn shop with valid photo identification.

Sebastian Poisson, 22, is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, two counts of theft and one count of fraud.
