A 19-year-old faces several charges after a U-Haul hit a residential porch late Wednesday evening in the 1000 block of Tuscarora.

Police say that the driver of the U-Haul was travelling at a high rate of speed north bound on Marion. The driver then attempted to turn east bound onto Tuscarora while still travelling at a high rate of speed, when he went over the north sidewalk, striking garbage cans, recycle bins.

The driver then continued into the turn, striking another parked vehicle, pushing this vehicle onto a residential front lawn.   The truck  then went up a front lawn and up onto a residential front porch.

The driver and passenger then fled the scene, but police were able to located the driver near by.

He was arrested for dangerous driving, taking an auto without consent and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

A resident had been sitting on the porch and escaped without injury.
