Windsor Police arrested a 23-year-old woman for impaired driving after an incident on the EC Row Expressway this morning.

Police say that around 3:45am, the woman was sitting at the red light waiting to turn onto Central and when the light changed the woman did not move.

The car behind honked their horn, but after getting no response the car behind pulled up alongside to see the 23-year-old who appeared to be passed out behind the wheel.

The car again honked and caused the young women to awaken and suddenly drive through the red light and rather than turn head for a guard rail striking it.

She continued on to the EC Row Expressway going east. With the tire flattened now, the driver was seen swerving about on the expressway and at one point she hit a concrete barrier on the overpass at Jefferson but continued on with her flattened tire spewing smoke.

Losing most of her tire as she passed Banwell, where she was stopped by Windsor Police just inside the Town of Tecumseh, where she was arrested and her car was impounded.

Police say that no one was hurt.
