Windsor Police have two men in custody following a brawl early this morning at a downtown Windsor bar. One for assaulting a female employee and the other for attempting to punch a police officer.

At around 1:50am this morning, two Windsor Police officers patrolling in the area Vodoo Night club, 527 Ouellette Avenue, were waved over by employees for a fight inside the club.

At the front door, officers were met by employees who were escorting a male out of the bar.

The male had punched and kicked a 26-year-old female employee. After a brief struggle, officers arrested the man.

Police say a crowd of about 20 people had surrounded the officers during the arrest and a larger crowd of approximately 50 people had gathered in front of the club. Additional officers were required to control and disperse both crowds.

As officers were trying to disperse the crowd that was surrounding and closing in on the officers executing the arrest, a second male attempted to punch a police officer and then fled the scene southbound on Ouellette Avenue.

Police say that following a brief struggle, this male was also arrested by officers. Minor injuries were sustained by the female victim and both arrested men.

A 26-year-old male is facing a charge of assault. A 22-year-old male is facing charges of assault and resisting arrest.
