As the Province of Ontario continues to buy up land needed for the Windsor-Essex Parkway construction from home and business owners, another change in property ownership is about to take place.

On December 10th, 2010 the Province will take possession of Huron Church Road from just north of Todd Lane to E.C. Row and E.C. Row from Huron Church Road to Broadway.

A report to council this Monday night outlines how maintenance of theses roadways will be undertaken until March 31st, 2011. The City of Windsor will maintain the roadway for snow and ice removal, be responsible for traffic signal maintenance, and any emergency repairs needed to the roadway. All costs to the city for these services will be recovered from the Province. When this agreement expires March 31st, 2011, the MTO will then be responsible for these roadways, as they will then be in construction mode.

When it comes to Emergency services coverage, when Windsor Fire and Rescue has to respond to a call on these roadways, a fee will be charged back to the Province to recover the costs.

The OPP and not Windsor Police will be responsible for any police related calls after December 10th along this corridor.
