J.P. Cormier is a Cape Breton bluegrass/folk/celtic singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. To date he has won 13 East Coast Music Awards and a Canadian Folk Music Award. A fan favourite at Kingsville Folk Music Festival, J.P. Cormier recently released his hew album “The Chance,” which included the previously released single Hometown Battlefield, about soldiers experiencing post traumatic stress disorder. The song, inspired by Cormier’s 2007 Afghanistan tour and news about soldiers’ suicides, went viral, with millions of Facebook visits and 800,000 YouTube views (July 2015)

Opening the show, local singer-songwriter Glen MacNeil is like a conversation with an old friend. Glen says all the right words with his artfully crafted expressions of everyday emotions often left unspoken. Glen released his debut solo album August 2015 and is receiving airplay locally and nationally.

The Sun Parlour Folk Music Society is a not-for-profit Corporation run by a volunteer group bringing the best in live acoustic music to the region. The ”ROAD TO FOLKFEST” concerts are fundraising concerts in support of the Society’s major annual event, the Kingsville Folk Music Festival.
