Detroit Free Press Marathon Not Coming To Windsor This Year

The Detroit Free Press Marathon will be run solely in Detroit this year.
“Running internationally is a beloved and unique component of our race, and because of that, we exhausted every opportunity and avenue, hoping that we could continue that tradition this year,” said event organizers in a news release.
They say that with fewer than 90 days before the event, the fluidity of this pandemic and current travel restrictions between the United States and Canada, they must move forward with a U.S.-only event.
This means the Full Marathon, Half-Marathon and the Marathon Relay that will take place Sunday, October 17th, and will be run within the confines of the City of Detroit.
This is the third time in the 44 years of the marathon it has remained in Detroit only.
