Loaded Firearm Seized By Windsor Police

Windsor Police is continuing to investigate an incident that led to the seizure of a loaded firearm.

On Tuesday, June 8th, 2021, at 1:45 am police were called to the area of Langlois Avenue and Assumption Street for a report of a person with a gun.

Officers arrived and it was reported that a male suspect had a firearm and pointed it at persons in the area. Through investigation, officers identified the suspect vehicle, which was quickly located in the area. A traffic stop was conducted, and the suspect was arrested without incident.

A loaded firearm with a defaced serial number was subsequently located inside the vehicle and seized.

Through investigation, this is not believed to a random incident. The persons involved are believed to be known to each other. However, police say victims and witnesses are not cooperating with the investigation.

Dion Dagenais, a 26-year-old male from Windsor, is charged with possess a firearm for a purpose dangerous to public peace, contravene firearms act regulation – relating to transportation, possess firearm – no licence, occupy motor vehicle with firearm and posses firearm knowing serial numbers defaced.

The Major Crime Unit is asking anyone in the area with surveillance cameras to check their footage for possible evidence.
