Police Find Illicit Cannabis During Traffic Stop

Two people are facing charges after a traffic stop.

OPP say that around 6:00 am on March 25th, 2021, they stopped a vehicle on Highway 401 westbound for speeding.

Initial investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle was in contravention of a condition of a previous release order and was subsequently arrested. Further investigation located a large quantity of illicit cannabis, and the passenger was also arrested.

David Rodrigues, 33 years old of Brampton, has been charged with fail to comply with recognizance, possess, produce, sell, distribute or import anything with intention to use it to produce, sell or distribute illicit cannabis, possession of illicit cannabis – cannabis act and possession for the purpose of distributing.

Kingsley Mariott, 37 years old of Brampton, has been charged with possess, produce, sell, distribute or import anything with intention to use it to produce, sell or distribute illicit cannabis, possession of illicit cannabis and possession for the purpose of distributing.

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Windsor Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
