3 New Deaths, 101 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 101 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Thursday, bringing the local total to 11,447.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 11,346 on Wednesday January 20th to 11,447 on Thursday January 21st and 2,216 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 11 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 18 cases are outbreak-related, and 72 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 8,951 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 301 resolved cases today.

Deaths

There have been 3 new deaths from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 280.

The Health Unit says:

• All three 3 deaths are from long-term care and retirement homes
  • A woman in her 90’s
  • A woman in her 80’s
  • A woman in her 70’s

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 110 hospitalizations today: 94 people in acute care, and 16 people in the ICU (2 less today) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
