A new Hospital Information System went live at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare early Sunday morning.
The new system is already in use at Erie Shores HealthCare in Leamington, and the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in Chatham and Wallaceburg joined on Sunday as well. Windsor Regional Hospital will join next year.
Officials say this new regional system will improve the communications between clinicians and patients using a regional electronic medical record. Patients can expect their information to be collected in a new and upgraded computer system. In addition, medications will now be confirmed electronically using Workstations on Wheels and their information will be shared instantly and securely between members of the care team, increasing timely decision-making.
“The new Hospital Information System that HDGH, together with our partner hospitals is implementing has been built by and for our region. Together, our teams have been involved in making this electronic system one that will benefit our patients and clinicians alike,” explained Janice Kaffer, President and CEO. “I am incredibly proud of what our region and specifically, members of the HDGH team have developed. This has been a long time coming and I could not be more excited to see this system in action.”
