55 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex As Of Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 55 new cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday, bringing the local total to 3,381. They say 2,989 people locally have recovered.

Cases increased from 3,326 on Monday November 23rd to 3,381 on Tuesday November 24th and 315 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 18 cases are residents of long-term care, 13 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 5 cases are agri-farm workers, 1 case is a local healthcare worker, 1 case is travel related to Michigan, 1 case is community acquired, and 16 cases are still being investigated.

There have been no additional deaths due to COVID-19 as of Tuesday and the local death toll stands at 77.

As of Tuesday, the Health Unit lists 11 people as hospitalized, and 5 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex. Ten hospitalizations are listed at Windsor Regional Hospital.

Long-term Care / Retirement Home Outbreaks

As of Tuesday there are five outbreaks:

  • Leamington Mennonite (Leamington) has 0 resident cases and 1 staff case
  • Riverside Place (Windsor) has 17 resident cases and 2 staff cases (16 new resident cases, 1 new staff case as of Tuesday)
  • Berkshire Care Center (Windsor) has 0 resident cases and 2 staff cases
  • Lifetimes on Riverside (Windsor) has 5 resident cases and 4 staff cases
  • Iller Lodge (Essex) has 18 resident cases and 3 staff cases (1 new resident case as of Tuesday)

Workplace Outbreaks

As of Tuesday there are three workplace outbreaks:

  • 2 outbreaks at agri-farms in Leamington
  • 1 outbreak at a place of worship in Leamington

School Outbreaks

As of Tuesday there are two school outbreaks:

  • W.J. Langlois Catholic Elementary School
  • Frank W. Begley Public School – 41 cases (39 confirmed cases, 2 probable cases) (2 new cases as of Tuesday)

Community Outbreaks

As of Tuesday, there is one community outbreak:

  • Riverplace Residence (lodging home) (new as of Tuesday)
