K9 Unit Locates Fleeing Suspects In Lakeshore

OPP K9 Maximus is getting credit for catching some fleeing suspects from the police.

Police say around 4:30am on March 12th, 2020, they were called to the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near County Road 31 in Lakeshore.

A vehicle was abandoned on the highway without lights in a live lane. The vehicle had previously been involved in a collision in another county, left the scene and was last observed travelling westbound on Highway 401 being operated in a dangerous manner.

Maximus tracked the suspects from the highway to an outbuilding on a nearby farm. Two persons were found hiding in the building, and one of them required medical treatment for minor injuries suffered from a dog bite injury during the arrest.

Pierre Mann, 36-years-old of Windsor, was remanded in custody charged with break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, fail to comply with a probation order and fail to stop at an accident.

Darlene Redding, 47-years-old of Windsor, was released from custody charged with break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 and possession of a schedule 1 substance.
