The Green Bean Café is launching an initiative to raise funds and awareness for local community organizations throughout the year.

Starting this month, the Monthly Community Support Systems will see 10% of the sale of every coffee or grilled cheese sandwich (traditional or vegan) purchased donated to a featured organization of the month.

The program was the idea of owners Kyle Lefaive and Caleb Farrugia.

“From day one, Caleb and I have not only strived to learn the nuances of running a restaurant but also continuously asked ourselves what we can do for Windsor and our community as a business,” said Lefaive. “We feel MCSS not only empowers us to do more but gives our patrons a direct avenue of support.”

Local organizations such as The Bloomfield House, The Welcome Centre Shelter for Women & Families, and Charlotte’s Freedom Farm will be highlighted along with many others.

Farrugia believes organizations like these play important roles in today’s society.

“As a proud community hub for the past 11 years, we feel it’s imperative to work alongside and promote neighbourhood programs which aim to improve the social well-being of residents in Windsor-Essex.”

The Green Bean will also be working to co-host fundraising events monthly for each featured organization. If you are involved in a local community group and would like to learn more, you can contact Kyle and Caleb at [email protected].
