A fire in the 600 block of Vimy is under investigation by Windsor Police.

It broke out just after 2:30am and took fire crews close to an hour to bring under control.

There were people in the home at the time of the fire, but thanks to police and two citizens they were able to wake and evacuate two adult occupants. No one else was inside the residence.

Fire officials say that it originated on back porch area of the door. Damage is set at $120,000 to the structure and $25,000 to the contents.

Investigators believed that the fire was deliberately set, and it was further discovered that two vehicles in the driveway of the involved residence had punctured tires.

Upon reviewing surveillance video from the area, coupled with witness information, two suspects were identified.

Later on Sunday April 8th, 2018 officers attended a residence in the 500 block of Memorial Drive and arrested both suspects at two different times without incident.

The two arrested individuals face charges including arson – disregard for human life and mischief to property under $5,000.

Police say that one of the suspects is a young offender, he cannot be identified under provisions of the youth criminal justice act. The identity of the second accused adult is not being release in order to protect the identity of the youth.
