Wyandotte West Shoppers Robbed At Knifepoint

Windsor Police have made an arrest after a west end Shoppers Drug Mart was robbed.

Police say that a male suspect had entered the store located in the 1600 block of Wyandotte Street West around 4:45pm on Monday October 31st, 2016.

He brandished a knife, entered the employee section of the pharmacy, announced a robbery, and demanded narcotics.

Store employees complied with the demands. The male held an employee at knifepoint to shield himself as he approached the exit. He demanded others to stay back, and fled the scene alone, with a quantity of narcotics.

No employees were injured.

A store employee followed the suspect at a safe distance and contacted police with updates. The suspect was aware he was being followed, and attempted to spray the employee with a repellant.

The suspect was found walking in the area of Bridge Avenue near College Avenue, and was arrested.

The stolen items, knife, and repellant were all recovered.

Gilles Plourde, a 61-year-old male from Toronto, is charged with robbery, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, possession of stolen property, and take person hostage/threaten harm.
