A 30-year-old man was killed after he was hit on his skateboard in Amherstburg Thursday morning.

Police say it happened around 6am on County Road 18 between Concession 4 South and Meloche Road.

They say that a 2011 Ford Focus driven by a 23-year-old Amherstburg man was attempting to pass another vehicle when the skateboarder was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 23-year-old driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police have identified the victim as Adam Pouget of Amherstburg.

Brandin Crosier of Amherstburg has been charged with adult causing death by criminal negligence.

He was released on a promise to appear and has a court date of December 20th, 2016.
