Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Ottawa Street Stabbing

A Windsor man is facing several charges after a stabbing on Ottawa Street Wednesday.
It happened around 11am in the area of 1300 block of Ottawa Street.
Police say that a 83-year-old female was walking in the area Ottawa Street and Hall Avenue when she was approached from behind by an unknown male. The male stabbed the female multiple times in the facial area and fled the scene.
Through the investigation detectives were able to confirm the identity of the alleged suspect. Many officers continued to search and canvass the area for the suspect and witnesses. At approximately 4:45pm, officers from the Emergency Service Unit observed the 28-year-old suspect walking in the area of Devonshire and Wyandotte Street East and placed him under arrest.
Richard Pillar, a 28-year-old male from Windsor is charged with attempt murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and two counts of breach of probation for being in possession of a weapon.
Detectives from the Major Crime Branch continue to investigate and are asking anyone who witnessed the assault or have information that haven’t already spoken to police to call.
They are also looking to speak to a witness who was walking their dog in the area at the time of the assault who chased after the suspect to call the Major Crime Branch.
