Leamington Man Arrested for Shoplifting

A Leamington man has been charged with shoplifting.

OPP say they were called to the Real Canadian Superstore located at 201 Talbot Street East around 5:10pm on Monday, July 4th after a male was observed to be shoving groceries into a backpack.

The male was located within the store putting a pack of bacon into the backpack. He was arrested at the scene.

In total, officers recovered over $200 worth of various meat items in the man’s backpack. Police alleged that the man had no ability to pay for the items.

Berhard Dyck, age 30 of Leamington, was charged with theft under $5000 and fail to comply with probation order.

He will appear in a Leamington court on August 4th, 2016 to answer to the charges.
