Attempted Murder Charge Laid After Woman Found Violently Beaten

Two people have been arrested after a woman was found violently beaten in a backyard in May.

On Sunday May 22nd police were called to a home in the 1600 block of Laing. Upon arrival officers located a female in distress in the back yard inside of a tent.

The 39 year old female was found to be suffering from serious injuries consistent with a beating or a series of assaults.

Detectives from the Major Crime Branch continued to investigate the incident and found that multiple assaults took place over a period of time.

Police have laid additional charges including an attempted murder charge.

Police say they also have an unconfirmed report of another possible victim from the past. Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information about the possible additional victim or this offence to call.

The female victim is out of intensive care but is still in hospital receiving treatment for her injuries.

Jonathon Riley, a 25 year old male from London is charged with aggravated assault, uttering threats, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, trafficking persons, assault causing bodily harm, and assault.

Kaiyla Schram, a 27 year old female from London is charged with attempted murder, trafficking persons, uttering threats, aggravated assault, assault, forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
