Windsor Police are investigating a daytime shooting outside the Tim Hortons at Walker and Wyandotte.

Officers were seen in the area with guns drawn, investigating leads several blocks near where the shooting took place.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Matthew D’Asti says the shooting occurred on the Wyandotte Street sidewalk in front of Tim Hortons.

Police had received a call just before 1pm for a male victim who had received a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

D’Asti says the male was taken by car to Met Hospital and his condition is not known at this time.

Schools in the area were placed under a hold and secure and police have worked with the school boards to ensure the safety of nearby students.

Police say the investigation is in a preliminary stage and details about a suspect are unclear. It’s not known if the shooting was targeted or random.

Police have asked anyone who witnessed the shooting to call.

The Wyandotte and Monmouth area reopened to traffic around 3pm.
