Police Car Hit As Drug Suspect Flees

On Thursday February 18th the Windsor Police Drug and Gun Enforcement Unit were active in a drug trafficking investigation.
The investigation centred around a man who was allegedly dealing crack cocaine within the city of Windsor. Officers approached a vehicle on foot in a parking lot in the 4900 block of Wyandotte Street East and advised the man that he was under arrest. The male suspect reversed into an unmarked police vehicle and then forward on a sidewalk. Officers had to jump out-of-the-way and the vehicle hit signs and then fled westbound on Wyandotte Street East.
Officers located the vehicle in the 900 block of Ellrose but the suspect fled the scene. Officers searched the vehicle and located a functioning stun taser.
A 21-year-old male from Windsor will be charged with possession of crack cocaine for trafficking, dangerous driving, leaving the scene of an accident, fail to stop for police, possess proceeds of crime and two breach of probation charges in relation to the weapon. Police have requested a warrant for his arrest.
