Two Charged In Heavy Equipment Investigation

In June of 2015 US Customs stopped a Windsor truck driver who was importing vehicles into the United States.

One of the vehicles being imported was found to have been reported stolen by a Windsor trucking company. An investigation revealed that this Windsor trucking company allegedly sold the vehicle to another trucking company in Essex County then reported the vehicle as being stolen.

Through the investigation officers identified 6 dump trucks and one trailer that were allegedly sold to another trucking company and then reported as being stolen. Four of those vehicles were being leased at the time they were sold. The two other trucks and the trailer that were sold then reported as being stolen also allowed the company to fraudulently receive insurance payouts.

The total loss suffered by the victims exceeded $375,000.

Gurfathe Kooner, a 30 year old male from Lakeshore is wanted for 4 counts of Fraud over $5000. He is also wanted on a warrant for breach of Recognizance for failing to sign in at Windsor Police headquarters.

Harjit Kooner, a 33 year old female from Lakeshore is charged with Public Mischief and 2 counts of Uttering Forged Documents.
