The Town of LaSalle has begun the process to update their official plan, and have hired The Planning Partnership to study, review and make the necessary updates.

The purpose of the official plan is to establish goals, policies and overall direction that will guide the Town of LaSalle over the next 10 to 20 years.

Official Plans usually take into consideration: where new housing, offices and shops will be located; what services like roads, watermains, sewers, parks and schools will be needed; when parts of the community will grow; how the trails will be extended; what will happen along the waterfront; and preserving natural lands etc.

The community will be invited to take part throughout the process at stakeholder meetings, open houses and with reports to Council. One of the first tasks is to develop a LaSalle Official Plan Review Community Advisory Focus Group. LaSalle is currently looking for six to ten residents and/or business owners to volunteer on this advisory committee.

“We are hoping that the LaSalle community will want to be involved in the process,” said Mayor Ken Antaya. “The Municipal Official Plan guides future development and leads us to meet our vision of an active, healthy and caring community.”

The volunteers on the LaSalle Official Plan Review Community Advisory Focus Group will meet two to three times over the next 18 months. They will be expected to assist and provide feedback to the Project Consultant and Town of LaSalle staff. Interested volunteers should submit a letter in writing including their name, address, phone number and email address. The letter should also include a short description (500 words or less) explaining why they would like to be involved. Letters of Interest are due by 4:30 pm on Monday, September 14 to Dawn Hadre, Communication and Promotions Officer, Town of LaSalle, at 5950 Malden Road, LaSalle.
