Police are trying to find the owner of a stolen barbeque after a man allegedly tried selling it door to door.

Police were called to the 2600 block of Parent Avenue last Sunday morning after getting reports of a man going door to door trying to sell the barbeque in question.

Police say two separate residences called in to report the suspicious male.

Officers arrived and located the male a short time later. Officers found that he was heavily intoxicated and his clothes were dirty and soaked.

The 28 year old male was placed under arrest for being intoxicated in a public place. A search during his arrest revealed that he was in possession of a driver’s licence in someone else’s name and 3 sets of sunglasses.

Officers went to the owner of the driver’s licence address and the owner advised police that his vehicle was broken into and he was missing his ID and sunglasses.

Police were later told by the suspect that he located the barbeque abandoned on the side of the road.

Officers were unable to locate an owner for the barbecue and it is believed that it may be stolen.

If anyone is missing a barbeque they are asked to call police.

The 28 year old male from Windsor is charged with Theft Under $5000 and Possession of Stolen Property.
