Windsor police have arrested a woman who robbed the Fred’s Variety store on Westminster Avenue Thursday.
The robbery happened before 9pm at the store located in the 1600 block of Westminster.
An employee told officers that a lone female suspect entered the store and approached the counter carrying a full-sized axe. The suspect raised the axe towards the store employee and demanded cash and two packs of cigarettes.
The suspect left the store with two packages of Studio Red flip top cigarettes and a small amount of cash.
The suspect was described as a white female, 30 to 40 years of age, 5’5″ – 5’7″, medium build, brown hair, wearing a black/grey plaid jacket, hoodie, black hat, socks on her hands, carrying a full sized axe.
Police searched the area and recovered the axe, two white socks, a dark plaid jacket, and a black toque.
Jolene Bensette, a 32 year old female from Windsor is charged with Robbery with Offensive Weapon and Possession of Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace. She was arrested Saturday afternoon.
