Police are investigating after copper was stolen from a building that caught fire late last year.

The old Alibi’s bar at 943 Ottawa Street caught on fire on November 8th and the building was extensively damaged. Police say the building had been undergoing renovations and was broken into on January 5th between 12:30am and 12:45am. A large amount of copper was removed during the break in.

Suspects again broke into the building between January 11th at 6pm and January 12th at 3pm and removed a smaller amount of copper.

A third incident occurred overnight January 14th to 15th, however a newly installed alarm system sounded and prevented a break in.

Police are asking anyone with information in relation to these incidents contact the Windsor Police Target Base Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4350, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS).
