The City of Windsor is going to keep operating Lakeview Park Marina as the status quo.
City council had three options to debate Monday evening dealing with the future operations of the marina. Those were to maintain the status quo, issue a request for proposals for an operator or to sell it.
At the meeting, council heard from parks administration that the marina is one of the only city recreational services that turns a profit.
Selling the marina was quickly taken off the table, as no one on council supported that option.
After a 45 minute debate, Councillor Irek Kusmierczyk made the motion to keep the status quo. That motion passed by council, with Councillors Jo-anne Gignac, Fred Francis and Rino Bortolin voting no.
In addition, council also voted to spend $300,000 in repairs and upgrades to the marina. Those upgrades to the docks, replacement of fuel tanks, construction of a new office and customer service building and the installation of WiFi service.
