Kicking off the holiday season the Walkerville Business District is celebrating their 12th annual Holiday Walk in conjunction with the re-opening of the “New Walkerville” streetscape.

The two-day event started Friday and continues Saturday right in the heart of Walkerville’s business district.

In cooperation with local businesses, this year’s theme has a roaring 20s vintage feel.

Holiday Walk coordinator, Joan Charette said Santa Claus will be present at Ten Thousand Villages for children and carolers will be strolling the streets.

Charette believes the new streetscape will be great for the Walkerville district.

“It’s beautiful and I think it is unique. The streets are narrowed and it is easier for pedestrians to cross the road,” said Charette. “I think it is a win-win transformation.”
