The OPP, the RCMP and the Canada Coast Guard laid several charges against boaters over the long weekend.

In all, 10 charges were laid under the Liquor Licence Act, 21 charges laid under the Canada Shipping Act (many without life jackets or PFD’s), 4 charges laid under the Criminal Code of Canada, four 3 day suspensions were issued with a total of approximately 100 warnings issued by officers.

Police say local marine units will remain vigilant in their efforts to provide a safe and reliable location for Essex County residents to enjoy their watercrafts throughout the boating season.
