Low income families that own dogs and cats in the Town of Essex may be eligible to receive assistance through the Town’s 2014 Spay and Neuter Voucher Program.
Starting on Tuesday, May 20th, the Town will accept applications for spay and neuter vouchers from eligible Essex residents who own dogs and/or cats, are at least 18 years of age, and are a resident for at least one year in the Town of Essex. Vouchers will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis and will be provided for up to one owned dog and one owned cat.
Council has approved funding for 125 vouchers valued at $75 each, which can be used at participating veterinary clinics in Windsor and Essex County.
Starting May 20th, residents can request an application form by calling Town Hall at 519-776-7336, extension 10 or 11. Proof of income is required, along with proof of payment for a 2014 dog tag.
The Town began receiving applications under the voucher program for feral cats as of April 14. In the first three weeks of that program, all 125 applications were picked up and over 100 vouchers were issued.
