A standoff at an apartment building in the 200 block of Lauzon Road came to an end around 3:30pm Sunday afternoon.

Police say that they originally attended the area for a stabbing around 5am Sunday.

A 49-year-old male victim told police he had been stabbed during an altercation with a suspect in a hallway of the apartment building.

The male victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police then initiated negotiations for the safe surrender of the suspect who was in an top floor apartment unit in the 200 block of Lauzon Road.

At least a dozen police cars, the mobile command bus, the explosive disposal unit and tactical units were on scene all day long trying to negotiate with the suspect.

At one point police attempted to communicate with the suspect from the balcony next to his.

Police say the standoff ended without incident and that their investigation will continue.

The 59-year-old male, who police say surrendered, is charged with aggravated assault and threats.
