Treasure Chest Full Of Coins Stolen, Suspect Busted When Returning In Front Of Police

Windsor Police have a suspect in custody following a break in on McEwan Street.
Around 7:45am Tuesday, police were called to the 700 block of McEwan where a victim told police his back door was forced in while he was not home. The victim told police that he was missing a wallet and a treasure chest that contained loose coins.
Police say two males were at a Tim Horton’s in the area at around 5:30am and tried to exchange $30 worth of coins for bills. Police went to the Tim Hortons and obtained surveillance footage.
Police returned to the 700 block of McEwan and began to take a statement from the victim.
Around 9am, as the officer was recording a statement, he witnessed a man exiting the front door of the complainant’s residence. The officer immediately recognized the suspect as being one of the males he observed in the video at Tim Horton’s with the coins.
The man was arrested allegedly with gift cards in his possession that the victim indicated were taken from the residence.
Justin Jenkins, 27, is charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property.
Police would like to speak to the second male who was seen in footage at Tim Horton’s with Jenkins.
He is described as a white male between 20 – 30 years of age, 5’10”, wearing a black toque, blue nylon vest, and black jeans. The sleeves of the top worn under the vest had 2 stripes on each side. The male had facial tattoos including a tear drop on the right side of his face as well as tattoos on his neck.
