All Aboard! Express Return To The Court With Big Win

The Windsor Express are back, picking up where they left off at the end of the 2012-2013 season. Friday night, they dimmed the lights on the London Lightning, defeating the defending NBL Canada champions 113-105.

Conducting the train were Stefan Bonneau with 31 points and 17 assists, and Chris Commons, who scored 23 points and had 8 rebounds.

Even with a (mostly) new team, Windsor was back to its winning ways. It opened the scoring and built a 12-0 run to start the season’s first game. London fought back throughout the quarter. By the end, the Express led 24-21.

In the second quarter, London took control – but only temporarily, as the Express came back. After the lead change, the two rivals continued to fight to be the frontrunner, shooting basket for basket. At halftime, it was Windsor with the 50-47 lead.

The Windsor Express Dancers and Marz Media put on a phenomenal halftime dance show with flashing lights and all kinds of moves.

To begin the third quarter, the Express players had some moves of their own. Chris Commons set up Kevin Loiselle for a crowd-pleasing alley-oop. It was constant back and forth after that. Halfway through the quarter though, London took over. The Lightning picked up the pace and finished the frame leading 79-74.

Between quarters, the Express recuperated and set foot on the court motivated. Quickly enough, they regained their composure, as well as the lead. Windsor scored the quarter’s first 8 points. Once on top, the Express maintained the advantage until the end. Late in the game, they were able to hold off the Lightning.

The Windsor Express beat the London Lightning 113-105.

Notably, this is the first season in which London starts with a 0-1 record.

The Express are back on the hardwood Sunday, November 17^th at 2pm against league newcomers, the Brampton A’s.
