Chatham Crash Leaves Windsor Woman With Life Threatening Injuries

Police in Chatham-Kent continue to investigate after a serious accident Tuesday.

Police say it happened just beofre 5pm at the intersection of Winterline Road and Maple Line in Chatham-Kent. A green Honda Odyssey minivan with eight occupants was travelling southbound on Winterline Road when it was struck by a westbound grey Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck.

The force of the collision caused the minivan to strike a bridge abutment on the southwest corner of the intersection. The driver and lone occupant of the pick-up truck was not injured.

A 54-year-old Windsor woman who was a passenger in the minivan was ejected. She was transported by ground ambulance to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and immediately airlifted to a hospital in London with life threatening injuries.

Four adult passengers in the minivan, all from Windsor were transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with moderate injuries. The remaining three occupants of the minivan, also all from Windsor did not report injuries.

The intersection was closed for several hours as officers investigated.

Police say that this accident remains under investigation, and ask that anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Michael Pearce at 519-355-1092.
