Two Charged In Possibly Racially Motivated Rest Stop Assault

The OPP have arrested two suspects after a man was assaulted on June 18th at the Tilbury ONroute service centre on Highway 401 on June 18th.

OPP said at the time that the incident began as a result of a driving dispute between the two men involved while driving into the service centre in their respective tractor-trailers.

Due to the nature of the assault, OPP investigators believe that this crime may have been racially motivated.

OPP investigation has revealed that a 39-year-old Kingsville man and a 47-year-old Ingersoll man verbally confronted a 29 year old Brampton man outside the service centre as a result of a traffic dispute from the 401 Highway. During the dispute the Brampton man was assaulted.

Elias Elachkar, age 39 from Kingsville, Ontario has been charged with Assault and Public Incitement of Hatred under the Criminal Code.

David Dykxhoorn, age 47 of Ingersoll, Ontario has been charged with Public Incitement of Hatred under the Criminal Code.
